HomeBayou
HomeBayou is a tribute to the natural and cultural landscapes of Buffalo Bayou East, the area east of downtown Houston, Texas that encompasses the historic Greater East End and Fifth Ward neighborhoods. The film was created in collaboration with community members who came together and brought objects and photographs that represent personal memories as well as influential local figures and key landmarks in the area. With participants’ guidance, the film was able to capture the resilience, heritage, and vibrant spirit of Buffalo Bayou East, offering a heartfelt tribute to the people and places that define life along the bayou. HomeBayou was hosted by Buffalo Bayou Partnership and Aurora Picture Show, a Houston-based media arts organization.

About Buffalo Bayou
With a focus on revitalizing a 10-mile stretch of the bayou over the past 30 years, Buffalo Bayou Partnership (BBP) has already transformed sections of the bayou and its banks to create parks, trails, and bridges. Most recently, BBP renovated the 160-acre green space called Buffalo Bayou Park. The park features trails, a nature play area, dog park, performance pavilions, a cafe, and two visitor centers, which offer boat and bike rentals. Planning has begun for BBP’s next big project, the equitable development of Buffalo Bayou’s eastern sector. BBP is working with local partners to revitalize neighborhoods in the area, while celebrating their rich cultural and industrial heritage
